DIY: Slouchy Urban Beanie

my urban jungle beanie:

I've been dying to make myself a hat for what seems like months now.

Look how cute... come on, everyone needs one of these!

And well, I think I've just about mastered scarves now, so I think it's time to move on to something a bit more complicated.
I must admit though, everytime I think today is the day to crochet one, I look at a pattern and get intimidated.
But, I decided it was time to take a leap of faith, I settled on this great urban Jungle beanie caron pattern.

Here it goes..(follow along with the caron Pattern)

First, I chained 10, then single crocheted until I reached 22 inches

weaved in ends

Single crochet around

Puff stitch around 18 rows

Close the hat, see Vickie Howell's tutorial here

Finished!

  2. I love your hat! The drape is very nice, and I love the colour you chose. I can't tell what colour it is, but it almost looks like an eggplant colour. What brand, type, and colour of yarn did you use? Radtastic job for your first hat! I've been crocheting for 7 years, and I quickly learned that for whatever reason my favourite way to crochet is in the round. So, once I realised that I love crocheting in the round, I went to town on making hats, socks, slippers, granny squares. I like making other things like Afghans too, but hats have a special place in my heart. I taught myself to crochet for the sole reason of making my own hats.. The other stuff like Afghans, and socks are just a bonus.. lol.

    1. Thanks Stefanja! I used Red Heart with Love Yarn, the color was grape jam; they should have some available at walmart. As you can see I'm still learning when it comes to crochet! Any tips/tricks or patterns you'd like to share would be greatly appreciated! Thanks for checking out my blog!
